Harold T. Johnson Sr.  

Is an accomplished Producer, Writer and Arranger. He is also a Gold and Platinum Album recipient.  Harold has produced such acts as Thelma Houston, The Fifth Dimension, Stephanie Mills, Smokey Robinson, Jerry Butler, Devastating Affair, The OJAY’S and The Temptations etc.

As an Arranger and Writer, over forty of Harold’s songs have been recorded by Artists such as, Diana Ross, Marvin Gaye, Stanley Turntine, Jerry Butler, Z.Z. Hill, Thelma Houston, Tata Vega, LTD, Michael Wycoff, Atlantic Starr, Rockie Robbins, Gloria Gaynor and Jeffrey Osbourne.

Also, as an Arranger and Writer, Harold has written for several Movie Sound Tracks which includes, “Hang Over Blues” in the Scott Jophlin Story, starring Billy Dee Williams and Clifton Davis, “Quality of Mercy” with Michelle Shocked for the Oscar winning movie “Dead Man Walking” and “Nobody Does It Better,” title track from the movie “Woo”, starring Jada Pinkett Smith and “Crossroads”.

He was a Recording Artist during High School and Junior College for MCA’s Universal Revue Jazz label in the late 1960’s with The Harold Johnson Sextet.  As a member of the Motown Group “Devastating Affair” he traveled with Diana Ross as an opening act in the United States, Europe, Australia and the Far East.

He was also a Producer, Writer, and Artist for Motown Record Company 1970-1980 and a Keyboardist, Arranger for The Temptation’s International Tour.  He held a staff position at Almo/Irving Music (A&M’s Publishing Company) 1981-1985.

Harold currently tours with Europe’s French Artist, Liz McComb, of Paris, France.  He is Co-CEO of JQ Record Company and Chairman of the Board for Down Sound Music Publishing House.
